On July 8, 2012 we lost a vibrant young women within our community, Brianne Gardhouse. There was an outpouring of support from the community and Brianne's family was able to implement a bursary awarded to two graduating high school students each year. After the high school portion of Chesley District Community School was closed, Brianne's family chose not to continue with the bursary. Instead, they have chosen to start a fund in Brianne's memory, The Brianne Gardhouse Memorial Youth Fund The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance to youth and teens in the Chesley area. An applicant may require financial support to participate in one of, but not limited to, the following activities:
• Attending a camp or function that would enhance their personal esteem, teach leadership and respect ( i.e. Scouts, Guides, etc.) • Enroll in or participate in sport related activities such as ball, soccer, hockey, curling, equestrian, etc. • Special requests to help with participation at events such as Special Olympics or youth/teen Regional, Provincial or National Championships • Expenses related to medical and health conditions • Financial assistance to attend post secondary education in a Health Related Field A volunteer committee will consider the applications deciding if and how much funding will be made available. |
